As light falls on the solar panel, DC current is produced. The greater the levels of light, the higher the current that is generated.
This DC current is converted into useable AC electricity by the Inverter which lies at the heart of the system.

The electricity produced is firstly consumed by other electrical items in the property (reducing or even eliminating the power draw from the grid).
Any surplus power produced is sold back to the power company further increasing the value of the system.
